The Grove

The Grove

A 25,000 sqft multi-cuisine food court for Grace Caters at VIT Vellore — a canopy of glowing globes hung in a red timber-batten grid over a hall of stalls, murals and terrazzo benches. Designed and built by LIBIDES.

The Grove is organised by a single ceiling gesture: a red timber-batten grid stretched across the full 25,000 sqft hall, cradling a field of soft white globe lamps that read like fruit hung in a canopy. The grid sets the rhythm everything else follows — the run of cuisine stalls, the terrazzo dining benches, the bays of hand-painted caricature murals — so a vast student canteen feels ordered and warm rather than industrial. The geometry comes from the proportion of the bays and the spacing of the lights; material is chosen to serve it.

Just as importantly, LIBIDES carried The Grove from drawing to doorway: the renders below sit beside photographs of the finished hall, the same red canopy, ring-lit reception and “Streets of India” murals delivered as drawn. The food court was designed and executed in-house and opened in July 2025 — proof that we don’t only design a space, we build it.
